ZBridge: loading samples straight into an Akai sampler's RAM, no disk required

Skipping the disk entirely
Every other route onto an Akai sampler — floppy image, SCSI drive image — involves building a disk image and getting it onto media the sampler reads. ZBridge skips that: it's a USB-C bridge that loads samples directly into the sampler's RAM over the SCSI bus, the way ReCycle used to push chopped loops straight into a sampler decades ago. No image to build, no card to swap.
What it's built on
ZBridge runs our own open-source firmware (GPLv3), branched from the ZuluSCSI-firmware project and published on GitHub. It adds the direct-RAM-load and live MIDI-over-SCSI control on top of what ZuluSCSI already does well as a SCSI emulator.
Status and hardware coverage
ZBridge is in beta and hardware-proven on the Akai S3200XL specifically — that's the machine it's been tested against, not a claim of universal SCSI-Akai support yet. If you're on a different S3000-family or S1000-family machine, the standard ZuluSCSI/BlueSCSI disk-image route (see the other guides here) is the proven path today; ZBridge is where that's headed.
Live control over SCSI
Beyond loading, ZBridge carries live MIDI control over the same SCSI connection — the same idea as S-Convert Bridge's DAW control, but running over the SCSI link ZBridge already owns rather than a separate MIDI interface.
