Privacy policy

Short version: we collect as close to nothing as we can get away with.

The app

S-Convert runs entirely on your Mac. Your samples, library index, tags and projects never leave your machine. The app contacts the internet for two things, and nothing else:

  • Validating your license key with our payment provider (Polar) at activation and roughly every 90 days after. That request contains your license key and a device label.
  • Sending a conversion feedback report, but only when you click the thumbs up or thumbs down on the conversion results card. Nothing is sent unless you click.

No audio, no file names, no usage analytics, ever.

Conversion feedback

When you send feedback, the app sends us one small report about that conversion so we can find out which sampler formats work and which do not. It contains: the source format and target sampler names, the writer that ran, how many files, disks and programs were involved, whether there were errors and a short version of the error messages with any file names removed, how long it took, the app version and macOS version, whether you told us you loaded the result on the real sampler, and any comment you typed. It also includes the name and reply-to email you enter on the form, so we can write back if it turns out to be a bug we can fix. The app shows you the exact report before it goes.

It never contains audio, sample or program names, folder paths, your license key, or anything you did not type. Reports go to our database and to our support inbox, and we keep them until you ask us to delete them. We publish only anonymised, aggregated results, like the per-format status on the formats page.

Purchases

Checkout and payment are handled by Polar (polar.sh) as merchant of record; we receive your email address and order details so we can issue your license and help with support. We never see your card number. See Polar's privacy policy for their handling.

This website

No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics cookies, no mailing list. Embedded YouTube videos load through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player.
